Greetings!

Today, Governor Napolitano broke the all-time veto record in less than half the time of the previous record holder. It is fitting that Governor NO broke the record on HB 2577 as this veto is a seminal indicator of this governor’s betrayal of her Oath of Office. This governor has violated the Constitution by her line- item vetoes of non-budget bills, has worked against Proposition 200, and, in a first time ever event, actually submitted a letter to the presiding judge urging him to rule against the State of Arizona in the Flores case.

HB 2577 is a direct response to the illegal invasion of our state and is consistent with the sentiments of the majority of Arizona voters. HB 2577 demands a cease and desist order of all sanctuary orders which prohibit law enforcement from calling ICE or Border Patrol when they knowingly have illegal aliens in custody. HB 2577 is a bill which puts Employers on Notice and prohibits illegal aliens from welfare programs and allows police and law enforcement to protect and serve among many other significant and critical areas which are demanded by the constituents of the state of Arizona. This Governor has consistently opposed removing sanctuary orders and has vetoed any effort made by any bill to remove illegal aliens from our communities including vetoing the National Guard $10 million appropriation and trespass bill earlier this session.

As a Minuteman who spent many days on the border, I am appalled by her political pandering to illegal aliens. As a native Arizonan, I am dismayed by her betrayal of honest Arizona businesses who are forced to compete daily against those who pay sub- standard wages to illegal aliens. As a homeowner and father, I strongly oppose the expenditure of billions to educate those who are here in violation of our state and federal laws while our public schools fail to educate our legal children.

Where is the governor in protecting the law-abiding citizens of Arizona? It goes without saying that any governor should protect and defend the Constitution, but it is absolutely abhorrent that this particular governor – a lawyer, former Attorney General and former US Attorney – should so blatantly disregard the law. Take heart, Arizonans, Fall Housecleaning is on its way and it is going to begin on the ninth floor.

I want to make some things extremely clear. In contrast to my primary opponents, I will not only speak out against Governor NO, but I will continue to clearly state my position so Arizona citizens will understand that there is clearly a best choice in September and November. The following comprehensive plan is known as the Goldwater Reform Immigration Plan (GRIP) . It is time for all our elected officials to Get A GRIP!

We must secure our borders using all means at our disposal. I not only support a fence/wall on our southern border (I was proud to participate in the initial fence building last month), but will install state of the art technology, supported by Boots on the Border with our National Guard performing military duties in Arizona in the same manner as they do in Iraq. I will demand a level playing field for all employers in our state and will strongly support legislative action holding those who would violate our labor laws accountable. I will provide leadership from the governor’s office in demanding that state employees report illegal activity while performing their official duties. Finally, I will demand that state shared revenues be withheld from any city or town declaring itself a “sanctuary city”, setting a policy preventing its police officers from enforcing federal and state laws, or setting up work centers for those who are here in violation of our laws.

Arizonans clearly and without hesitation have supported the following: Secure our borders; enforce ALL current immigration laws; enforce employer accountability; and termination of all tax paid benefits to illegal aliens. Arizona voters have clearly demonstrated their position on this problem and are to be commended for passing Proposition 200. Now it is up to their elected office holders at all levels to implement the necessary protections for all. As governor, I will provide the necessary leadership in this fight for the very survival of this state as we know it.

The choice this fall is clear – Goldwater, a name you know, a name you trust.

Sincerely,
